Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman Announces Appointment of New Deputy Attorney General for Criminal Appeals
DENVER – Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman today announced the appointment of Andrew Cooper as Deputy Attorney General for the Criminal Appeals Section. Andrew currently holds the position of Chief Deputy District Attorney in charge of the Appeals Department in Colorado’s Eighteenth Judicial District.
“Andrew Cooper has proven to be an outstanding litigator and leader,” said Attorney General Coffman. “I believe he will be a strong addition to our already outstanding Criminal Appeals Section and will represent the people of Colorado well.”
Cooper has been with the Eighteenth Judicial District since 1999. During that time, he has served in his current capacity as well as a Deputy District Attorney. He was assigned to the Appeals Department in 2005. Before public service, Andrew focused on commercial litigation as an associate at Baker & Hostetler here in Denver and was a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago, Cooper graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.
Cooper officially begins his new role at the Colorado Department of Law on December 21, 2015.
