Quizlet.com addresses Attorney General’s inquiry regarding advertising practices

Nov. 5, 2021 (DENVER)—Attorney General Phil Weiser issued the following statement regarding an inquiry into Quizlet.com’s online advertising practices:

“In March of this year, the consumer protection section in the Colorado Department of Law responded to complaints about Quizlet.com—an online educational platform for users under the age of 18—from parents who reported that the tool displayed ads for e-cigarettes while their children used the platform.

“Quizlet verified with our Department that it is using content moderating software to permanently block inappropriate ads from being served to users under the age of 18. We are satisfied, at this time, with the steps Quizlet has taken to block online advertisements for tobacco products. The Department will continue monitoring online advertising practices to protect our children.”
