Attorney General Phil Weiser statement on victory in Live Nation / Ticketmaster monopoly case

April 15, 2026 (DENVER) – Attorney General Phil Weiser released the following statement after a jury found Live Nation, parent company of Ticketmaster, is an illegal monopoly in the live entertainment industry:

“Today’s jury verdict in our Live Nation/Ticketmaster monopoly case is a pivotal moment for everyone who loves live events. Live Nation is a monopolist and has abused its monopoly power to squeeze out competition, jack up ticket prices, stifle artists, and make it harder for fans to see their favorite artists.

“State attorneys general stood strong and continued this case without the federal government because we believed that concertgoers deserved a fair trial and a fair deal. Live Nation is being held to account for violating state and federal antitrust laws, and I’ll continue to fight to break up their monopoly, restore competition, and get money back for concertgoers.”

In May 2024, Weiser joined a bipartisan group of state attorneys general and the U.S. Department of Justice in suing Live Nation for monopolizing the live entertainment industry and using its dominant power to reinforce and protect that monopoly. Colorado and other states rejected a settlement reached last month between the Justice Department and Live Nation and continued fighting the antitrust lawsuit in a trial in a New York federal court.
