Statement from Attorney General Coffman on Trump Administration announcement on DACA
DENVER- "The President and Department of Justice appropriately have returned to the federal legislative branch the authority to set our country's immigration policy. In creating the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) by executive fiat in 2012, the Obama administration acted in lieu of Congress and beyond presidential authority. Today's announcement of a six-month delay before DACA ends presents Congress a renewed opportunity to address the human consequences of failing to establish clear federal immigration policy. Hopefully, they will meet their challenge and provide certainty for the hundreds of thousands of impacted DREAMERS, their families and employers."
