DENVER —On election night, Colorado voters chose Chief Deputy Attorney General Cynthia Coffman to become Colorado’s 38th Attorney General. In response, Colorado’s current Attorney General, John Suthers, who is term limited, issued the following statement.
“I congratulate Cynthia Coffman on her election as Colorado’s next Attorney General. Representing the people of Colorado as attorney general is a distinct honor and a privilege and having worked closely with Cynthia for the last 10 years, I am confident that she will do an outstanding job upholding our laws, safeguarding Colorado’s natural beauty and resources, protecting consumers and prosecuting criminals. Cynthia will soon experience firsthand from the vantage point of the attorney general how the integrity, competence and passion of our employees make the Colorado Department of Law among the finest public law offices in America. On behalf of all the employees of the Department of Law, we welcome Attorney General-Elect Coffman and stand ready to aid in what I am certain will be a very smooth transition process.”
