Mar. 29, 2019 (DENVER, Colo.) — Attorney General Phil Weiser has selected Essi Ellis to serve as the new director of Safe2Tell Colorado. She will begin work full time effective April 1.

Safe2Tell, which is overseen by the Attorney General’s Office, is a successful violence intervention and prevention program that gives young people a mechanism to report threats to their safety or the safety of others. Anonymous tips received through Safe2Tell have helped local school officials and law enforcement agencies respond to threats, prevent tragedy, and save lives.

Mar. 28, 2019 (DENVER, Colo.) — In a letter to the chairman of the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, Attorney General Phil Weiser today gave his support to SB19-078, “Concerning the Protection of the Open Internet”. In absence of congressional action, states should provide consumer protections in the area of net neutrality, said Weiser.

March 22, 2019 (DENVER, Colo.) — Attorney General Phil Weiser today joined 17 other states and the District of Columbia in filing a friend of the court brief supporting the City Council of Baltimore’s lawsuit against the Trump Administration’s changes to the public charge rule.  This rule threatens to reduce legal, family-based immigration by radically redefining the criteria for admissibility to the United States and adjustment to lawful permanent resident status and would have the effect of making our communities less safe and healthy.

March 18, 2019 (Denver, Colo.) – Attorney General Phil Weiser today announced two new senior appointments to his administration:

David Powell, Equity Shareholder at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C.’s Denver office, will serve as Deputy Attorney General for State Services. Powell has almost 30 years of private practice experience in employment litigation, as well as experience as a former prosecutor in the Denver District Attorney’s Office and former law clerk for the Honorable John L. Kane Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
