The Colorado Department of Law offers a suite of violence prevention trainings and resources for multiple audiences. Training topics include Colorado’s Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law, the Domestic Violence Lethality Assessment Protocol (LAP), and Behavioral Threat Assessment Management (BTAM).
Training topics are adapted by role and setting so participants receive practical guidance relevant to their responsibilities. All trainings are provided free of cost.
For educators, including K-12 and higher education professionals, trainings are primarily virtual and focus on how ERPOs and related prevention tools can support school and campus safety. For law enforcement, trainings are primarily in person and address ERPO implementation, LAP, and BTAM, with an emphasis on field practice, legal requirements, and coordination with courts and community partners.
ERPO training for the public is coming soon.
