WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Division of Community Engagement strives to be Coloradans’ open door to the Department of Law in the operation of five programs: Outreach and Engagement, Consumer Engagement and Data Services, Safe2Tell, Opioid Response, and Grants and Partnerships.
The Grants Specialist – State Share Opioid Response Grants position (Grants Specialist III), works with the other grants professionals and the Director of Grants and Partnerships to oversee and manage assigned state share opioid response grants and contracts. Responsibilities include:
- Maintains ownership and oversight of assigned grants and contracts from beginning to end of the funding cycle.
- Works with others on the Grants and Partnerships team to improve the grant-making process.
- Reviews new proposals and amendments, facilitates the development of grant agreements and amendments, and monitors progress to ensure compliance.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community partners to plan and execute collaborative program efforts on a range of topics, as assigned by the Director consistent with Department priorities.
- Coordinates working groups and task forces to launch and coordinate statewide partnerships and programs.
- Partners with the Director of Opioid Response and Opioid Response Unit to implement state opioid response vision and strategy.
Salary note: Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Salary will be paid on a biweekly basis.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Requires:
- Six years of full-time professional experience with grant administration, including as the grant recipient organization or granting organization; OR
Experience managing contracts or projects, which may have included managing work plans, timelines, deliverables, and overseeing budgets
OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND
- Two years of professional experience with grant administration, including as the grant recipient organization or granting organization; OR
Experience managing contracts or projects, which may have included managing work plans, timelines, deliverables, and overseeing budgets
OR
- A master’s degree from an accredited institution in public administration, non-profit management, business, or other closely related field AND
- One year of professional experience with grant administration, including as the grant recipient organization or granting organization; OR
Experience managing contracts or projects, which may have included managing work plans, timelines, deliverables, and overseeing budgets
OR
- A combination of full-time education and professional experience with professional experience with grant administration, including as the grant recipient organization or granting organization; OR
Experience managing contracts or projects, which may have included managing work plans, timelines, deliverables, and overseeing budgets totaling six years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and passion for work with opioid response
- Experience with drafting or managing State of Colorado funded grants and/or state competitive grants
- Experience with State of Colorado grants policies
- Experience with government granting or nonprofit granting as either the funding agency or grant recipient
- Experience with grant contract administration, drafting Statements of Work, and ensuring quality of outcomes
- Experience with budget creation and management
- Ability to provide technical assistance regarding competitive grants
- Ability to provide formal training
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Exceptional customer service skills working with external partners, such as grantees, individuals with lived experience or community partners
- Demonstrated history of behavioral health partnerships in Colorado
- Knowledge of rural or underserved Colorado communities
