Statement of Attorney General Phil Weiser on FDA’s decision to order JUUL to stop selling e-cigarettes
June 23, 2022 (DENVER)—Attorney General Phil Weiser released the following statement regarding the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to order JUUL to stop selling e-cigarettes on the U.S. market:
“As Colorado’s lawsuit against JUUL demonstrates, the company and its founders and board members spearheaded a deceptive marketing and messaging campaign that targeted youth and downplayed the health risks and addictive nicotine concentration of its e-cigarettes. Today’s FDA ruling to remove JUUL e-cigarettes from the U.S. market is long overdue. Youth vaping remains alarmingly high in Colorado and JUUL’s predatory marketing has left a lasting impact on our youth. That is why the Department of Law will continue to press forward with our lawsuit to remedy the harm already caused by the wrongful conduct of JUUL and its executives.”
