Extreme Risk Protection Order training for educators

ERPO trainings for K–12 educators

These free, interactive trainings are designed to support school staff in responding when concerns arise about a student’s risk of harming themselves or others. The training places ERPOs within a broader school safety and threat assessment framework.

Training overview

  • Module 1: Learn to recognize gun violence warning signs, work with school threat assessment teams, and understand the basics of ERPOs.
  • Module 2: A step-by-step guide through the ERPO petition process, with best practices and practical tips.

Each 30-minute virtual module is scenario-based and includes case studies and downloadable tools to support practical application in school settings.

How to access

  • The training is also available via direct links for those who wish to complete the modules without registering for an LMS or receiving continuing education credit.
