Weiser: Absent federal law, Colorado should take steps to protect an open internet

Mar. 28, 2019 (DENVER, Colo.) — In a letter to the chairman of the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, Attorney General Phil Weiser today gave his support to SB19-078, “Concerning the Protection of the Open Internet”. In absence of congressional action, states should provide consumer protections in the area of net neutrality, said Weiser.

“Senate Bill 19-078 is a well-crafted measure to exert more consumer protections for Coloradans. As the internet continues to be a more important and indispensable tool in our daily lives, SB 19-078 is one step that the State can take protect an open internet. I am grateful to Representatives Hansen and Herod, and Senators Bridges and Donovan for their leadership in bringing this important bill forward,” Weiser says in his letter to Chairman Chris Kennedy.

Weiser’s letter to the committee chairman can be found here.
